How to Easily Fix a Rubber Hose
If Your Hose is Leaking
If your hose is leaking then the problem could lie either in the end fitting of the hose or in the spigot to which the hose is attached. First check the spigot. Over time the washers inside the spigot can rust or crack, distorting the shape of the spigot, causing a leak. By replacing these washers you can usually clear up the leak. If you replace the washers and your hose is still leaking, then it's time to take a look at the end fitting. Like the washers, end fittings sometimes crack or just wear out. Replacing an end fitting is a relatively simple procedure. You simply cut off the old end fitting and replace it with a new model. If You Have Low Water Pressure
Low water pressure is usually caused by a problem in the length of the hose. Most commonly the source will be a kink in the hose which is easily fixed. Simply unkink the hose and continue with your work. Sometimes, however, the source can be a hole, or series of holes in the hose. If you have a series of small holes, then inserting plugs or patching the hose with electrical tape will solve the problem. If you have a larger hole, then fixing it becomes a bit more complex. First you must locate the hole. This is simply done by attaching a nozzle to the end of the hose and spraying. This additional pressure will usually cause water to spurt out of the hose at the source of the hole. Mark the hole and then prepare to fix it. By simply cutting the hose on either side of the hole, then attaching the end pieces to a mender, your hose will be good as new, if a bit shorter.
